Griff Rhys Jones and a film crew from the BBC came along to the Naval & Military club to film the Southend Poetry group for a programme called Why Poetry Matters
The programme on BBC Two will launch a Poetry Season across BBC TV and Radio with a passionate plea about how verse has the power to move and why everybody needs it.

Members of the group chatted to Griff about poetry and what it means to them.
