The square of endless noise squats where daylight falls like rain

miraculous silence deserts like the bird with no name

leaving crying that hurts,

                      shouts, a pleading

                      -   the organ-grinder's only tune

                      fire-work claps

                      playground without trees

                      statues nod in age-old recognition

                      a restless swing recounts

                      spaces of childhood
